House OKs Video Poker Machine Phase-Out (WXII-TV Winston-Salem)
RALEIGH, N.C. — The state House approved a bill Wednesday that would ban video poker machines in North Carolina by next summer. The vote was 114-1. A retailer now can't have more than three machines. The bill would reduce the maximum to two by Oct. 1, one by March 1 and none by next July.

NC House committee endorses video poker machine phase out (WIS-TV Columbia)
(Raleigh, NC-AP) May 30, 2006 - A House committee recommended a bill Tuesday that would ban video poker machines in North Carolina by next summer. There were no opposing votes as the House Rules Committee approved a measure that would slowly trim the number of machines any retailer could operate.
